Solar panels, also known as photovoltaic (PV) panels, convert sunlight into electricity. They are made up of photovoltaic cells, which are usually made from silicon or another semiconductor material. When exposed to sunlight, the material releases electrons, creating an electric current that is captured by the wiring in the panels
